Ibn Abbas reported: When this verse was revealed ‘[[Quran 42.24, The Verse of Embodied Affection|Say: I ask of you no recompense for it except the love for my near relatives]],’^[[[Quran 42.24, The Verse of Embodied Affection]]] they [the companions] said: O Messenger of Allah, who are these near relatives whose love has been made obligatory upon us?
